The City of Royal City is seeking to fill the position of Utility Technician II

The hourly wage range for this position is $18.00 to $23.66. Starting pay will be based on qualification at time of hire.

Under supervision of the Public Works Director, this position is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, including laboratory and field analyses, and preparing the monthly wastewater report per State discharge permit. Other duties include, but are not limited to, operating light and heavy equipment, performing installation and repair of water distribution lines and sewer collection lines, maintaining roadways and alleys, performing landscape maintenance, weed abatement, snow removal, and traffic control. May also assist with garbage collection and recycling programs and perform other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate for this position must have, strong math skills applicable to water and/or wastewater operations and laboratory analyses, computer skills with experience in spreadsheets and word processing, knowledge of wastewater treatment operations, experience in the operation, maintenance, and minor repair of light and heavy equipment, pumps, compressors, and herbicide sprayers. Must be familiar with work place safety including, trenching and shoring and lock-out tag-out, ability to perform strenuous labor activities, ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be willing to work in inclement weather conditions. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies and the public.

The following qualifications are required:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possess a certificate of General Education Development (GED).
Possess a Washington State Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (WWTPO) Group III Certification, or possess a WWTPO Group I and a combination of experience, training and education that would qualify the candidate to attain a WWTPO Group III certification within three years of employment.
Possess a Valid Washington State Drivers License with a driving record free from serious or frequent violations.
Posses or obtain Washington State public pesticide applicator certification within six months of employment.
Possess or obtain Commercial Drivers License Class B within six months of employment.
Possess or obtain Washington State Traffic Control Flagger Certification within six months.
Possess or obtain CPR and First Aid card within six months.
